Mike Baur is the both a co-founder and Managing Director at the Swiss Startup Factory. He is a well-renowned entrepreneur who has made his mark in the business world. Mike spent his early life in Freiburg, Switzerland. He attended both University of Rochester and Bern University where he attained business degrees. Before joining the self-employed sector, Mike was part of the white collar job system where he worked as a banker in Union Bank of Switzerland. Mike’s interest in banking started at a tender age of only just but 16years old. By the age of thirty years, Mike earned promotion to a better ranked advisory position. His banking skills were a cut above the others.

Mike Baur offered advice to tycoons and wealthy investors in Switzerland. However, even when Baur looked set for a brighter future in banking, he decided to quit Union Bank of Switzerland to take another job at the Clariden Leu bank. He equally did not stick in his new job for a long time. Baur worked in Clariden Leu for only six years despite holding a supreme position. Later, he departed banking and started making investments in startup companies. This would later seem to be his path to success.

In 2014, Mike Baur, Mike Meister, and Oliver Walzer all co-founded the Swiss Startup Factory. Initially, Mike had taken his chances at a startup pitching contest at the University of St Gallen where he participated as a member of the jury. While at the management of the Swiss Startup Factory, Mike has been one to organize fundraisers that aim at aiding young owners in funding their technology startups across the globe. This program is of benefit to startup firms as they can access mentor-ship programs. They also get access to rent-free offices within the first three months of its launching.

The most vital benefit is being able to connect with diverse talents from all over the world to be able to share ideas, compare projects, and even partner up to increase the chances of getting funds from agencies. Swiss Startup Factory also encourages technology startups to enroll in pitch contests. Mike Baur also founded the Think Reloaded firm that provides financial advice to all clients. Fundraising to help in funding technology startups is the primary goal of Mike Baur at SSUF. Currently, Swiss Startup Factory has been involved in setting up over a dozen number of technology startups.

Dallas Serial Entrepreneur and Venture Capitalist Marc Sparks

Marc Spacks graduated high school with a C+ average in 1975 in Austin Texas and never went to college. He has strong ties to the telecommunications industry and has been involved with companies such as Splash Media and Cardinal Telecom. With all of his experiences, both success and failures, Marc has painfully written the book They Can’t Eat You where he shares everything. His colleagues persuaded him to share his experiences in order to help inspire other entrepreneurs who may be on the verge of giving up on their dreams.

Even during the bad times Marc still was willing to push forward, and he is not afraid of losing. Marc understands that even though he may love to win, life is full of loss and that the money he has is not something he believes makes him successful. Instead, he sees being rich as enjoying family, keeping in shape, and making sure your employees and customers are both happy.

Besides his work in business, Marc enjoys building and helping others. He is heavily involved with Habitat for Humanity having helped construct over a dozen homes himself. He has his own foundation called “Sparky’s Kids” where he has donated over a thousand new computers to at-risk kids in an effort to help them break free from the vicious cycle of poverty in this technology-driven age.

Chris Burch Envisions A Fashionable Future Of Technology

Chris Burch has always been on the bleeding edge of technology. As chairman of Burch Creative Capital, he is always looking for the next big thing in which to invest. And it seems like the maverick has set his sights on the world of fashion.

In a recent article, Burch discussed the influence that fashion has on technology. His argument makes a lot of sense.

Going back to the late 70’s and early 80’s, carrying around a boombox made a certain fashion statement, according to Burch. Being able to carry around your favorite music set you apart from everyone else back then. It was that freedom, and style choice, that eventually led to the Walkman and ultimately to the iPod.

There is no doubt that the selection of Apple products is as much of a fashion statement as it is a technological one. When you have an iPhone in your hand, it says something about you.

Burch also discusses the (relative) success of Google Glass. While it is not very fashionable to wear glasses, under certain circumstances fashion designers can make it seem so. Case in point, fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg had her models wear the Google Glass at one of her fashion shows, making them more desirable to the average consumer.

There are times when fashion embraces technology to create something entirely brand new and game changing. Take Argentinian designer Soledad Martin for example. She is currently working on a prototype of a shoe that uses the kinetic energy produced by your body to charge a battery that can then be used to charge your smartphone, tablet or any other device through the use of a USB cable.

Chris Burch has always been at the forefront of fashion, branding, technology and consumer products. His luxury fashion brand, Tory Burch, is a successful lifestyle brand that offers ready-to-wear clothing, handbags, as well as home and beauty products.

Mr. Burch has invested in many growing startups including Hooch (a members-only cocktail app), and Bib + Tuck (an online marketplace that allows women to exchange clothing).

ClassDojo is Helping to Change the Education Community

ClassDojo is a relatively unknown application that is quickly becoming a useful tool for teachers, students and parents alike. Everyone who is involved within the field of education can come together and create a community that helps them to be productive and grow. ClassDojo is available in app stores such as Google Play and iStore for Apple.

This app has been around since 2011 but it really did not start to catch on until 2013. Now, in 2016 there are close to 35 million users. As a matter of fact, it has been estimated that this application is being downloaded at least 500,000 times a day. Also, the app is being used in about half of all schools within the United States.

That is a phenomenal feat. Keep in mind that those numbers are just for U.S. users alone. This app is meeting great success in other parts of the world as well. This is good news for the field of education here in America and for other education communities across the globe.

ClassDojo is not just limited to American educators it is also available to people who live overseas in other parts of the world. Both of the app’s founders are moved to the U.S. from the U.K. They discovered that the issues they faced within the classroom are pretty much the same for just about every teacher in the world. This is why they created the app to appeal to different cultures across the globe.

Back in April of 2016 the company was able to raise $21 million dollars to expand its operations. They used the money to market their product and to create upgraded services. The ClassDojo app is a revenue maker because it has in-app purchases for advance services that people really want to utilize.

ClassDojo brings teachers and parents together. The app is extremely beneficial for both of these parties. They can communicate with one another about students. Teachers can send photos or videos about the progress a student is making throughout the day.

They can also set up times to meet with one another without having to call or schedule personal conferences. Students benefit from the app because it helps to keep them on the right path with teachers and parents. They enjoy the positive feedback and praise that teachers give to them with the use of ClassDojo. ClassDojo is doing more than just make a teacher’s job efficient; it helps everyone involved within the field of education to grow closer as a community and as a family.

Goetti poised to offer service, honor veterans in Las Vegas

Las Vegas home owners who have a Goettl air conditioner can breathe more easily. Trained HVAC technicians from the company headquarters will not be very far away. Ken Goodrich, who bought the company in 2013, plans to move its operations to Las Vegas. Goodrich also believes in honoring and supporting the veterans who fought to give freedom to the people of the United States.

As part of honoring the service and commitment of United States veterans, the new Goettl owner operates the Kenneth D. Goodrich CSN Post 9/11 Veterans scholarship fund. This scholarship is awarded to veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan who want to pursue a career as HVAC technicians. Of the 50 HVAC technicians he plans to hire for his new shop, many of them will be returning war veterans.

As head of Goettl, Goodrich wants to maintain values instilled in him by his father. When Goodrich was old enough, his dad used to take him out on service calls. The process started with him holding a flashlight, but he took on a more active role as he got older. On these calls, he learned the importance of helping others when they needed help and of doing the right thing.

The new headquarters will also need support staff in addition to the HVAC technicians. Every member of the staff will receive daily training to make sure they have the right tools and information to do their job.
